We have been feverishly working on school projects for the past several weeks now. Nick's project was completed today. The animal that Nick chose to research was the Dingo. In addition to a report he needed to create a Diorama showing the animal in it's natural habitat. While Nick and I prepared the living enviroment using paint and things from the yard, Riley was hard at work sculpting dingo dogs from clay. We think that it turned out FABULOUS! Here is Nick's report:
The dingo is a member of the dog family (like my dog).
They have lived in the wild for thousands of years. Dingoes weigh
about 45 pounds, are two feet tall and five feet long.
Dingoes live in many parts of Australia. They live as a family
with a mother a father and pups. A mother dingo can have from
five to eight pups each year. They live across Australia in
forests, desert and farm lands.
Dingoes hunt for food at night. They will eat rabbits, gray
kangaroos, birds and farm animals. When these are hard to find,
dingoes will also eat eggs or grubs.
Small pups are very playful. They chase and nip at eat other just
like dogs do. Pups usually growl and bark at each other when
they are playing.
Dingoes are thought of as pests in farm country. They eat sheep,
chickens and other farm animals. Because of this, the dingo’s
main enemy is man (the farmer).
When I asked Nick why he chose the Dingo he replied, "because it looks like Boomer." You be the judge:
